It was the “proposal heard ’round the world,” and Jason Kelce is took a moment Wednesday morning to loudly celebrate his brother, Travis Kelce, and his soon-to-be sister-in-law, Taylor Swift.
Ahead of a new episode of “New Heights,” which aired at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Jason Kelce released a one-minute video clip on social media to address the engagement that went viral on Tuesday.
“There is one gigantic piece of new news that just hit the waves,” Jason Kelce said.
He explained that the clip was recorded on Monday — the day after the engagement was announced — which is Travis Kelce’s one day off, so the Chiefs’ tight end could not “address this himself.”

Jason Kelce and the team at “New Heights,” however, still felt it was their duty to celebrate the couple’s engagement and “send Travis and Taylor a giant congratulations for being engaged!” the former Philadelphia Eagles center shouted into the microphone on the podcast.
“YEAH!” he continued noisily. “The proposal heard ’round the world! F— yeah!”
Other “New Heights” team members, like famed social media manager Jets Jake, joined Jason Kelce in the clip to cheer on Travis Kelce and Swift excitedly.
The couple announced their engagement after two years of dating with a joint Instagram post on Tuesday, featuring a slideshow of photos from the engagement.
“Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married,” the couple captioned the post, which has more than 28 million likes as of Wednesday morning.
Ed Kelce, the boys’ father, told ABC News 5 in Cleveland that the engagement took place about two weeks ago at a garden at his home in Lee’s Summit, Missouri.

Jason Kelce also addressed the record-breaking episode that aired on Aug. 13 and featured Swift, who sat down for her first podcast interview with the brothers and announced her upcoming album, “The Life of a Showgirl,” on the football podcast.
He conceded that this week’s new episode “probably won’t be as good as the last episode of ‘New Heights,'” which set several podcasting records.
Within the first 72 hours of Swift’s debut on “New Heights,” there were 379 million views on Instagram, including a “record breaking IG real,” Jason Kelce said.
He added that 61.6 million people watched on X and 34.5 million on TikTok. As of Wednesday, the episode had more than 21 million views on YouTube. It also earned the podcast 400,000 new YouTube subscribers and helped it break 3 million followers on Instagram.
“Thanks to the one and only Taylor Swift for hopping on and deciding to talk with two complete idiots that don’t know anything about the music industry,” Jason Kelce said Wednesday morning. “And it was a doozy! So, get ready for a much lower bar this week.”
Discussing the success of the episode, Jason Kelce cheekily chalked up the popularity to he and his brother.
“It’s all us, I can pretty much guarantee everyone tuned in to ‘New Heights’ for our bond,” he said on Wednesday’s show.
“I think they tuned in because Taylor gave the world two hours that she’s never given them before,” Travis Kelce shot back, with a laugh.
Jason Kelce said he didn’t “think it could have gone any better, I mean, because of how open and incredible Taylor was.”
“This is the first time they’ve seen Tay really unload for that long of a period of time, and that, like, authentic and transparent of a way, and I think that it was incredible for her to feel that comfortable on the show,” Jason Kelce added.

Travis Kelce said Swift walked away from the episode “absolutely ecstatic and excited and and happy.” He added that she had “so much fun” dropping Easter eggs and announcing the new album.
When he heard the term “Easter eggs,” Jason Kelce’s ears perked up, immediately calling out the Pinocchio figure that sits on the shelf behind Travis Kelce, which some fans have hypothesized means Swift told some lies during the podcast. Travis Kelce quickly brushed off his inquiries without answering his questions.
Travis Kelce lauded his brother’s interviewing skills during the episode, saying that Jason Kelce was “over here playing Barbara Walters” while he was “so wrapped in what Tay was saying that I forgot we were trying to interview her, because it’s hard to interview someone that you love.”
He said he was trying his best to stay quiet and let Swift answer Jason Kelce’s answers so as not to shock or distract her.
“I keep listening to this album, and I know she mentioned that it’s going to be a lot more pop beats and everything, but it’s just, it’s still so poetic,” he said, adding that it’s “just so much fun to listen to” and that he’s “been dancing all throughout the house” while listening.
Jason Kelce, who joked he remains angry that his brother and Swift won’t let him listen to the new tracks ahead of its Oct. 3 release, asked his brother which song is his favorite.
“I’m not a politician, Jason,” Travis Kelce said, but conceded that he thinks “Opalite” is his favorite, “at least right now.” He also told Jason Kelce that “Showgirl” is a good album to workout to.
“We also turned some dudes into Swifties” with the episode, Jason Kelce said. Travis Kelce agreed, saying that a number of football players and coaches have praised Swift since.
“I think a lot of people saw her from a different perspective,” Travis Kelce said. “It was just like mom [Donna Kelce] said: it was very genuine, and it came off so just real.”
“It was cool to see the world react to [the podcast episode], knowing that they hadn’t seen [Swift] in that kind of, you know, light before.” Travis Kelce siad. “That’s why I love her.”
Ed Kelce discusses engagement during his own podcast appearance
Ed “Papa” Kelce took his turn in the hot seat on Tuesday, joining “The Jimmy & Nath Show With Emma” to reveal details about Travis Kelce and Swift’s engagement.
“I think it’s wonderful. They’re two young people madly in love with each other and they’re … just I’ve never seen him quite so happy,” Ed Kelce said.
Travis Kelce has had the ring for “a while,” and while Ed Kelce said he isn’t sure exactly when his son bought it, he said Travis Kelce showed it to him in early July.
But it took the tight end some time to get down on a knee. Ed Kelce said his son never came to him for proposal tips, and eventually he went to his son himself to offer some unsolicited advice.
“I went to him to tell him to get this done,” Ed Kelce said.
Travis Kelce asked Swift’s dad, Scott Swift, for permission to marry his daughter about a month ago, Ed Kelce said. He added that Scott Swift said something similar to Travis Kelce: “When are you going to get this done?”
Ed Kelce said Scott Swift encouraged Travis Kelce to just ask if he had the ring and was ready, and to not push it off any longer.
Travis Kelce had planned to pop the question this upcoming weekend before he flies to Brazil for the Chiefs’ first NFL game of the season and “make a big production out of it someplace,” Ed Kelce said, but ultimately decided to dial it back because he “wanted to make it special.”
“I told him the same thing that Scott told him: Asking her is what’s going to make it special, not where you do it,” Ed Kelce recalled saying.
Both sides of the family had assumed the couple would get engaged because “we’ve never seen our kids so happy,” Ed Kelce said.
Ed Kelce explained that on the night of the proposal, the couple had plans to go out to dinner, but Travis Kelce suggested they head out back to have a glass of wine before going to the restaurant. He said he assumed Swift knew something was up when she saw the explosion of florals that took over her beau’s backyard.

When asked about the wedding, Ed Kelce said he is “going to keep his mouth shut” on that one, but said both Travis Kelce and Swift “most definitely” want kids.
He said he believes the engagement took place a week ago Sunday — Aug. 10 — but kept it quiet until she announced “The Life of a Showgirl” so as not to conflate the two equally exciting headlines.
“They’re made for each other,” Ed Kelce said of his son and future daughter-in-law. “They complement each other very well.”
