Bonnie Tyler’s final social media post has become an emotional tribute to a remarkable career after the legendary singer died at the age of 75, just weeks after suffering serious health complications.
The iconic Welsh performer, best known for timeless hits including “Total Eclipse of the Heart” and “Holding Out for a Hero,” died unexpectedly in a hospital in Portugal, where she had been receiving treatment following a recent illness.

According to a statement released by her family and team, Tyler passed away after battling complications that began earlier this year.
“Bonnie’s family and team are heartbroken to announce that Bonnie unexpectedly passed away last night in hospital in Portugal as a result of the illness that she was being treated for.”
Just days before her health crisis, Tyler had shared what would become her final personal Instagram post on May 1, celebrating a project that remained close to her heart.
The singer announced her involvement in “One World One Home,” an original song featured in the documentary Homeless, directed by Valerio Zanoli. The documentary examines the housing crisis in Las Vegas, focusing on rising housing costs, homelessness and gaps in mental health care, while the song was recorded in partnership with the Dallas Street Choir to help raise awareness of the issue.
Sharing the film’s trailer with fans, Tyler wrote that she was “grateful” for the opportunity to perform on its soundtrack.
Following news of her passing, that post quickly became a place of remembrance as fans flooded the comments with messages honoring her life, music and legacy.
Another recent update on Tyler’s Instagram account featured MP Carolyn Harris, who publicly wished the singer well after news emerged that she had been hospitalized.

Tyler was admitted to a hospital in Faro, Portugal, in May after undergoing emergency intestinal surgery for a perforated intestine following a burst appendix. Doctors later placed her into a medically induced coma to aid her recovery.
At the time, her spokesperson said the operation had gone well and asked for privacy while she recovered.
Weeks later, Tyler’s team confirmed she had awakened from the medically induced coma after suffering a cardiac arrest, though they cautioned that her recovery would be slow and that she remained seriously ill.
Throughout the ordeal, Tyler had reportedly continued working despite experiencing persistent pain in the weeks leading up to her hospitalization.
The singer had been preparing to return to the stage for a new European tour, including appearances at the Sunshine Festival in Worcester and a scheduled concert at Cardiff’s Utilita Arena later this year.
Tributes poured in from across the entertainment world following confirmation of her death.
BBC Radio 2 presenter Vernon Kay honored the legendary performer on air before playing “Holding Out for a Hero,” sending condolences to her family on behalf of the station.

Fans also shared heartfelt messages across social media, remembering Tyler for her unmistakable raspy voice, powerful performances and down-to-earth personality. Many described her as one of Wales’ greatest musical talents and thanked her for decades of unforgettable songs.
Only months before falling ill, Tyler had spoken positively about her health despite ongoing knee problems. She explained that she remained active by practicing Pilates daily and was continuing to enjoy performing live with her band, saying that having good health was life’s greatest blessing.
From her final message expressing gratitude for new music to the countless tributes now honoring her legacy, Bonnie Tyler leaves behind a career defined by resilience, unforgettable anthems and a voice that inspired generations around the world.
