Riley Green is a momma’s boy through and through.
Riley Green is known for frequently appearing at Losers Bar in Nashville, which is right next door to his Midtown concept, Riley Green’s Duck Blind. In 2024, Green made many appearances at the local bar, even slinging drinks behind the bar with Post Malone one night. Some of the best memories came from the times he, Jamey Johnson, and Ella Langley took over the stage.
During the summer, after singing at Toby Keith’s tribute concert, American Icon: Toby Keith, the trio headed down to their favorite spot and fired up a few tunes on stage. The group performed their hit song, “You Look Like You Love Me,” which later in the year won Langley and Green their first CMA Award, as well as some of their other popular songs.
The bar crowd was in for a treat, but before they wrapped up their time on stage, Riley Green made sure to dedicate one final song to the most important woman in his life. His mother.
Green got up to the microphone and told the crowd that they were going to call it quits, but his mom is a big fan of Jamey Johnson’s “High Cost Of Living. ” So, he got Johnson to perform the track, dedicating it to his mother before ending the night.
“Mama, we was about to quit, but then I told Jamey that you like this song, so he’s going to do it for you. This song is for my mama tonight, everybody. In case you’re sober enough to remember it…”
Jamey Johnson begins to strum the introduction of the hit song, and Green confirms that it’s the song his mom loves.
“Yep, that’s the one.”
Jamey Johnson wastes no time diving into the lyrics of the song, powerfully delivering them to the bar’s crowd. The simplicity of the acoustic guitar combined with his deep, booming vocals is captivating. Riley Green jumps in to help with harmonies during the chorus, but he lets Johnson lead the show.
