The Voice has shared an early release clip ahead of Monday’s new episode of Season 28, featuring a Battle between Team Niall artists DEK of Hearts and Jack Austin. Their voices blended beautifully on a cover of “I Will Wait” by Mumford & Sons.

Team Niall Artists Battle in The Voice Early Release

DEK of Hearts is a trio made up of singers Kollin Bailey, Emily Clapp, and Dylan John. They earned a four-chair turn for their Blind Audition, ultimately choosing to join Niall Horan’s team. Meanwhile, Jack Austin turned three chairs with his Blind Audition.

This season, artists get to pick their own pairings for the Battles, which means DEK of Hearts and Jack Austin chose to perform together. Horan assigned them the song “I Will Wait” by Mumford & Sons. Their voices sounded amazing together on the track.

At the start of the Battle, the singers performed the lyrics a cappella, before the music gradually built. Even though it was a trio against a solo artist, Jack held his own during the performance, which had the coaches smiling and dancing along in their seats.

What Did the Coaches Think?

“Wouldn’t it be great to wake up every morning and have that joy?” coach Reba McEntire said after the Battle. She complimented DEK of Hearts’ harmonies and enthusiasm, before calling Jack “cute as a button.” She advised Horan to “pick all four of them.”

Michael Bublé also praised the performance, telling Jack he “looked like you were part of the group.” He said he would choose DEK of Hearts as the Battle winner, “only because there’s just nothing else like you.”

Snoop Dogg said he was “thoroughly entertained,” telling Jack he “has some cold moves.” He expressed relief that he didn’t have to choose a winner. That task falls to coach Niall Horan, who said his artists “have done an amazing job.”

We’ll have to wait until Monday’s new episode of The Voice on NBC to find out who Horan chose as the Battle winner. Who would you choose? Let us know in the comments below.
