Darci Lynne’s A Cappella ‘Amazing Grace’ Leaves Audiences in Awe with Unbelievable Acoustics and Timeless Talent

One of the most successful America’s Got Talent winners ever has taken a break from her whirlwind touring schedule to give fans an unforgettable a cappella rendition of a classic hymn!

Darci Lynne Sings A Cappella Version of "Amazing Grace" (VIDEO)

Darci Lynne, who walked away from AGT Season 12 as the champion, dropped a heavenly version of “Amazing Grace” to Instagram on April 19, and it’s every bit as lovely as you’d expect. There’s something hauntingly beautiful about the 20-year-old casually singing the song’s familiar lyrics at the bottom of a stairway.

The star is taking full advantage of a short break in touring, and Lynne is clearly ensuring her vocals stay in tippy-top shape.

“One of my absolute favorites to sing 🩷,” she wrote in a caption.

Fans immediately saw why it’s one of Lynne’s “favorites to sing” — she crushes it! So many artists have covered the song in the past, but the 20-year-old elevates those iconic high notes even further.

Lynne’s vibrato and tone really shine in this video — there’s just so much passion behind those lyrics! And maybe it’s the acoustics of the stairway, but her voice floats through the air, giving this latest a cappella performance an ethereal quality.

With her nationwide tour continuing on May 2 after this brief break, Lynne is focused on giving fans an unforgettable live experience, just like she’s done since first stepping onto the AGT stage. So, what should fans expect at her live shows? In a 2019 interview with The Oklahoman, Lynne explained what she brings to the table:

“My show really has a huge variety of song genres,” she revealed. “Basically, I do opera, I do yodeling and country, I do Motown and I do pop. I do jazz a lot and it’s crazy. … I wouldn’t particularly listen to opera or yodeling songs. But that’s basically the personality of my puppets, maybe the songs they would listen to. That’s the songs they would sing.”

Here’s what to know about “Amazing Grace”

With lyrics by poet John Newton and initially published in 1779, “Amazing Grace” is a classic Christian hymn that eventually became one of popular culture’s most recognizable pieces of music. The lyrics weave a story of being forgiven regardless of one’s past mistakes, a central theme in many religions.

According to CBS, “Amazing Grace” is sung approximately 10 million times annually, from church services to on-stage covers to candid social media performances.

The hymn is incredibly popular for modern artists to cover. Lynne’s version joins other impeccable takes like Carrie Underwood’s country-influenced cover, John Legend’s early-career a cappella performance, and fellow Got Talent star Susan Boyle’s studio version!
