Mickey Callisto, the Sunderland singer whose stunning performance in a Paris flashmob rendition of Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody” captured global attention, has officially announced his first solo tour across the UK and Ireland. Fans can expect ten nights of music, surprises, and a few nods to Queen classics along the way.
Callisto, 28, gained fame after the flashmob video, filmed in the Place de la Contrescarpe, went viral, amassing millions of views across Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, and Reddit.
The performance, led by pianist Julien Cohen and featuring 30 musicians including young guitar prodigy Olly Pearson, was a spectacular celebration of the iconic 1975 Queen hit. “Never in a million years would I have thought I would be coming in on a horse and carriage in Paris singing Bohemian Rhapsody,” Callisto remarked about the unforgettable stunt.
The viral success has only fueled anticipation for his live shows. “I can finally announce that I’m going on a tour around the UK and Ireland in November,” Callisto shared on social media. “It’s going to be a 10-day tour, and the tickets go on sale from tomorrow. Honestly, I just can’t wait to perform for you all again and meet so many people who’ve supported me online, in person, or that I already know. I’ll be sharing a lot of my new songs, and if you’re lucky, I might even throw in a couple of Queen songs.”
Callisto’s rise has been remarkable. Known as the “Mackem Freddie Mercury,” he first wowed audiences on Britain’s Got Talent with his rendition of Who Wants To Live Forever, earning praise from judges including Simon Cowell, who said, “The most important thing about these shows is you’ve got to be remembered… and people are going to like you, Mickey. You’ve got a great personality as well.” Alesha Dixon added, “Is this Mickey? Is this Freddie? But whatever it was, it’s sensational. Your voice is absolutely stunning.”
Callisto’s journey began at seven, when Durham Cathedral choristers inspired him to teach himself opera singing. Later, his love for Freddie Mercury’s operatic style led him to combine inspiration with his own creativity. His stage name, Callisto, reflects his fascination with space—chosen after the Jupiter moon when he was 14—and has stuck ever since.
Beyond his solo music, Callisto is also a celebrated performer and impersonator of Mercury, regularly touring and bringing his dynamic performances to diverse audiences.
He recently launched Homospace, a new monthly club night in Sunderland celebrating LGBTQIA+ inclusivity through music, with resident and guest DJs playing everything from Italo Disco to modern pop and house.
Callisto’s UK and Ireland tour promises to be a career milestone, blending his original music with the timeless magic of Queen. Fans can expect an evening of fun, surprises, and the chance to experience firsthand the talent that has already captivated millions worldwide.
