Richard Goodall teams up with Journey for an epic final performance – get a glimpse of their behind-the-scenes rehearsal

Richard Goodall took the “America’s Got Talent” stage for the final time on Tuesday night.

The fan-favorite from Terre Haute, Indiana, wrapped up his journey on Season 19 by performing another hit from the legendary band Journey during the show’s final round. This performance capped an impressive run that included standout covers of Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believin’,” Michael Bolton’s classic “How Am I Supposed to Live Without You,” and Survivor’s iconic “Eye of the Tiger.”

Now, with the final performance complete, it’s up to the show’s fans to decide Richard’s fate.

America's Got Talent' finals: Richard Goodall wows with more Journey

Reflecting on his journey, Richard shared memories of his younger days, when he would sing his favorite songs alone in his bedroom.

“I was just a kid belting out music,” Richard said. “Eventually, I thought, ‘I need to get a job.’ So I became a janitor at Chauncey Rose Middle School, just three blocks from my house. I’m not a fancy person—I take out the trash, wipe down tables, and sweep the floors. I’m just having fun and trying to make people happy.”

It was the encouragement of his students, who heard him sing, that inspired Richard to audition for “America’s Got Talent.”

“When I took off from Indianapolis for the audition, I felt the front wheel lift off the ground, and you’re floating. It’s like this whole experience—you’re not on stable ground, but it’s a good kind of off-balance. You never know if something is right for you until you try. I’m getting goosebumps just thinking about it.”
