The Voice Fans Call Out Tearful Kelly Clarkson Over Her Surprising Top 3 Picks as One Team Member Is Called “Robbed” During Cut Week

The Voice fans are calling out Kelly Clarkson after the coach became emotional while making her final choices during the show’s first-ever Cut Week.

Season 30 took a brutal turn on November 2, when coaches Kelly Clarkson, Queen Latifah, Adam Levine and Riley Green had to make some of their toughest decisions of the season. After the Battles, each coach had seven artists remaining, but only three from each team could advance directly to the Live Shows.

For each team, two artists were chosen to move forward based on their performances earlier in the competition. The remaining five singers then had one more chance to prove they deserved the final spot.

Kelly Clarkson Struggled With Her Final Choice

Kelly had a particularly difficult decision to make with her stacked team. She ultimately sent 15-year-old Koumba Diallo and country singer Anna McElroy directly to the Live Shows before choosing 14-year-old Brianna Cameron as her third artist.

The decision clearly weighed heavily on Kelly.

In a clip shared by The Voice, Kelly became tearful while choosing her final artist, showing just how difficult it was to send talented singers home. The show captioned the moment, “Choosing her third Artist brought Kelly Clarkson to tears.”

Many viewers sympathized with Kelly and praised her for showing how much she cared about the artists.

“I cry when KC cries,” one viewer wrote.

Another fan said, “I love that she genuinely cares about these talented people.”

Others called Kelly a “kind person” and said she was “all heart,” while another viewer wrote, “It was hard for all the coaches.”

But while fans understood Kelly’s struggle, many were unhappy with the final decision.

Fans Say Nina Howland Was Robbed

A large number of viewers believed Nina Howland deserved to be Kelly’s third pick.

Nina was among the five Team Kelly artists competing for the final spot, but Kelly ultimately chose Brianna instead. That left Nina hoping America would use its additional vote to send her into the Top 13.

The decision quickly sparked strong reactions from fans, with many calling Nina one of the strongest singers on the team.

“Nina should have been Kelly’s 3rd pick. I was so disappointed she didn’t pick her,” one viewer wrote.

Another said, “Nina got robbed!!!! Her delivery is so powerful…. American needs to vote her in!!!!”

“Nina was the best. Praying she gets through. She should win it all!” another fan commented.

Other viewers also urged fans to vote for Nina, with one writing, “Everyone that can vote please go for Nina.”

One particularly emotional reaction summed up the frustration by saying, “Kelly should be crying for not picking Nina. Huge mistake. Nina was by far the best Cut Week performance on Kelly’s team.”

The criticism did not mean viewers were against Kelly. Many fans continued to praise the coach for becoming emotional during the decision, while also believing she made the wrong choice.

The Voice Cut Week Results — Season 30 Live Show Artists Revealed, Voting Opens

After the four coaches made their choices, the Top 12 was set. Team Kelly moved forward with Koumba Diallo, Anna McElroy and Brianna Cameron.

America then received the chance to save one more eliminated artist and complete the Top 13. Voting opened after the episode and remained open until 3 a.m. ET on Tuesday, November 3, with the result scheduled to be revealed at the beginning of the November 9 episode.

For Nina’s supporters, the hope was clear. They believed Kelly’s emotional decision showed just how difficult the choice was, but they still felt Nina deserved another chance.

With 16 singers eliminated in one night, Cut Week proved to be one of the most painful rounds in The Voice history. For Team Kelly, the debate over Nina’s elimination may continue long after the emotional decision was made.
