Meghan Markle has given royal fans an unexpected glimpse into her family’s private European getaway, sharing a collection of rare photos featuring Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet enjoying memorable moments across Portugal and the United Kingdom.
The Duchess of Sussex posted highlights from the family’s trip on Instagram following reports from late June that she and Prince Harry had spent more than a week traveling through Europe with their two children.
Among the most touching images was a visit to Althorp, the historic Northamptonshire estate where Princess Diana spent much of her childhood. Although Meghan did not share any photos from the family’s reported visit with King Charles, the Althorp stop carried special significance as the Sussexes stayed at the estate as guests of Harry’s uncle, Charles Spencer.

The photo collection also showcased plenty of lighter family moments, including Archie and Lilibet enjoying the beach, meeting pilots, and splashing in swimming pools. While Meghan chose not to reveal the exact locations of each image, the family traveled through multiple countries during the holiday. One photo featuring a restaurant menu was identified by Town & Country as coming from O Melidense in Melides, Portugal.
The vacation marks Archie and Lilibet’s first major trip to Europe since attending Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations in July 2022, making the journey especially meaningful for the young siblings.
Although Meghan occasionally shares carefully selected glimpses of her children’s lives in California, she has previously revealed that most of their memories are preserved in a far more personal way.
During an appearance on The Jamie Kern Lima Show in April 2025, Meghan explained that she created private email accounts for each of her children, using them as modern-day digital scrapbooks.

“I thought it was such a great time capsule to create for them,” she shared. “I still have scrapbooks and photo albums, but we’re past that generation now. So I’d created these email addresses for the kids that I’ll give them when they’re older.”
Nearly every evening, Meghan writes to her children, preserving the everyday moments that might otherwise be forgotten.
“You email them like, ‘Here’s your report card from today,’ or ‘You said the funniest thing this morning,’ or ‘Here’s a picture of you two having breakfast,’” she explained. “They’re the moments you’re not going to frame or write in a journal, but they’ll have them forever.”
Through both her latest vacation photos and her heartfelt family tradition, Meghan continues to offer rare glimpses into the quieter side of life she and Harry have built with Archie and Lilibet away from the royal spotlight.
