Even Olympic champions can find it difficult to say goodbye to a place filled with memories. Simone Biles recently became emotional while preparing to sell her Houston-area home, admitting that leaving the property after six years was harder than she expected.
In a TikTok video shared on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, the 29-year-old gymnast filmed herself reflecting on the home as it prepared to go on the market. Fighting back tears, Biles questioned why she was becoming so emotional about the sale.
She explained that the house had been part of her life for six years, holding both happy and difficult memories. More importantly, she felt that living there had helped her grow into adulthood.
As she walked through the empty property, Biles showed viewers several rooms without furniture, along with the backyard and its swimming pool. Despite the sadness of leaving, she expressed hope that the next owner would enjoy the home just as much as she had.
The emotional farewell came shortly before the property found a buyer. In the caption accompanying her video, Biles revealed that the house had sold in just four days. She had planned to put air fresheners around the property for potential buyers and give her husband, Jonathan Owens, one final look at the house. Instead, she ended up crying.

The 3,998-square-foot home went under contract five days after being listed on September 26, according to the Houston Business Journal. The sale closed on October 15, with the property reportedly selling for between $1.08 million and $1.24 million, based on information from the Houston Association of Realtors.
When followers asked why she was selling, Biles clarified that the property was not the same house she had recently built with Owens, an NFL safety for the Indianapolis Colts.
The couple had spent years planning and constructing their custom Texas mansion, which Biles announced was finally complete in November 2025. The design process began in 2020 and took more than a year, followed by a wait for approval from their homeowners association. Construction officially began in February 2022.
After nearly three years of construction, the mansion was completed on November 11, 2025. Biles and Owens had worked together on the design, with the gymnast previously describing their collaboration as a successful combination of their shared vision. In May 2025, she also told PEOPLE that she hoped they would be able to move in soon, although the project had experienced some setbacks.
More recently, Biles offered glimpses of life in their custom-built home, including relaxing poolside with Owens. The property features a spacious dining area with a large chandelier, while other glimpses have highlighted the couple’s bedroom and outdoor kitchen.
Biles and Owens married in April 2023 after first meeting on the dating app Raya in March 2020. Owens proposed in February 2022, marking another milestone in their relationship before the couple’s Texas dream home was completed.
While the rapid sale of her former home may have made the transition easier from a practical standpoint, Biles’ emotional farewell showed just how much the property meant to her. After six years of memories, moving on was clearly about more than simply selling a house.
