Maren Morris Admits Her 10-Year Country Milestone Is Bringing Back Powerful Emotions Before A Huge Nashville Night

Maren Morris

Maren Morris is celebrating a decade of musical success.

In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE, the singer, 36, reflects on breaking into the country music scene in 2016 and how she is marking the milestone occasion.

“My first record, Hero, turned 10 this past June, so we’ve been doing a string of shows for an anniversary tour for it,” Morris explains, adding: “We are ending the run in a couple of weeks at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville.”

“I have played some really meaningful shows there over the last 10 years, and playing my song ‘My Church’ at the Ryman, which is famously known as ‘the Mother Church of Country Music,’ will feel really emotional,” continues the mother of one.

Morris’ debut album was followed by 2019’s Girl, 2022’s Humble Quest and 2025’s Dreamsicle.

Over the course of her career, the singer has earned various accolades, including five awards from the Academy of Country Music, as well as wins at the Grammy Awards, the Billboard Music Awards, the American Music Awards and the Country Music Association Awards, to name a few.

Morris says celebrating 10 years of Hero marks “not just this album that changed my life, but the people that it brought into it, whether you’re an older fan or a newer fan.”

She recently released Hero: A Second Wind, an expanded edition of the LP, on June 26. It features two newly recorded songs written during the original Hero sessions — “Hard Liquor and Soft Rock” and “We Can’t Be Friends” — as well as four previously unreleased demos: “Sugar,” “Company You Keep,” “I Wish I Was” and “Drunk Girls Don’t Cry.”

Hero will be performed live from start to finish for the first time ever during Morris’ Hero: A Second Wind – 10th Anniversary event at the historic Ryman Auditorium on Aug. 15.

“It just feels like a really thoughtful, beautiful way to end this summer,” Morris — who recently launched EDITED by Maren Morris, a new apparel collection created in partnership with Sam’s Club and Sunrise Brands — tells PEOPLE.

“And it’s a hometown show. I live in Nashville, Tenn., so I always love any excuse to play the Ryman,” she adds with a laugh.
