Ella Langley has made it clear that she was not happy with Riley Green’s recent comment about her success on The Voice. The country singer shared her reaction during a TikTok Live, sparking fresh discussion among fans about the pair’s relationship and Green’s role in her rise to fame.
Green, who joined Season 30 of The Voice as a coach alongside Kelly Clarkson, Adam Levine, and Queen Latifah, recently brought up Langley while trying to convince sister duo Ferryn and Brinkley to join his team.
The sisters earned a four-chair turn during their Blind Audition. As the coaches competed for them, Green pointed to his experience taking another female country artist on tour.
“There was a girl that reminded me a lot of y’all. I took her on tour. Her name is Ella Langley. She’s doing pretty well!” he said.
Green also explained that the sisters’ voices would fit well with the traditional country sound that has been gaining popularity again. Ferryn and Brinkley ultimately chose him as their coach.
However, some viewers interpreted his remarks as taking credit for Langley’s success, even though he did not directly claim that he was responsible for her career taking off.

Langley previously opened for Green on tour, but her career reached new heights after the two released their hit duet You Look Like You Love Me. She has since launched her own headlining tour, selling out venues such as Red Rocks Amphitheatre. She has also earned the most nominations of any artist at the 2026 CMA Awards, including nominations for Entertainer of the Year, Female Vocalist of the Year, and Album of the Year.

The discussion took a more personal turn when Langley went live on TikTok while getting her hair and makeup done for a show. A fan asked her, “When Riley took credit for your success on The Voice, did that rub you the wrong way?!”
Langley paused after reading the question before giving a blunt response.

“Yeah, when that man took credit? No, didn’t love that, but typical. Typical. Pretty typical,” she said.
Her reaction quickly drew attention, with fans divided over whether Green’s original comment was unfair.

Some defended the coach, arguing that he was simply trying to persuade Ferryn and Brinkley to join his team by sharing his experience taking a successful country singer on tour. They also pointed out that Langley’s career did grow significantly after their professional paths crossed.
Others insisted that Langley would have found success regardless of her time on Green’s tour, arguing that her talent and achievements should stand on their own.

The exchange has also revived speculation about possible tension between the two singers. Green and Langley were previously rumored to have been romantically involved, although neither rumor establishes the nature of their relationship. Fans also noticed what they viewed as an awkward moment between them at last year’s CMA Awards, adding to questions about whether there has been tension behind the scenes.
While opinions remain divided over Green’s remarks, Langley’s response has made one thing clear: she did not appreciate how his comment came across. Whether the exchange reflects a deeper disagreement or simply a difference in perspective remains unclear.
