Lady Louise Windsor had a special supporter by her side as she returned to carriage driving competition following her university graduation.

The 22-year-old daughter of Prince Edward and Sophie, the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, competed in the Glebe Estate Carriage Driving Trials in West Sussex on August 2, marking her first competition of the season. Among those cheering her on was her long-rumored boyfriend, Felix da Silva-Clamp.

Photos published by Hello! magazine showed da Silva-Clamp watching Louise compete with a smile, even wearing the same Royal Windsor Horse Show baseball cap he had previously been seen wearing before Louise changed into her formal competition outfit.

The pair’s relationship has attracted attention after da Silva-Clamp supported Louise at several carriage driving events last summer. Like Prince William and Kate Middleton, the two reportedly met while studying at the University of St. Andrews, where they grew closer after being cast together in a play.

Louise’s passion for carriage driving comes from her late grandfather, Prince Philip, who introduced her to the sport and also taught her mother, Sophie, how to drive. After his death in 2021, Philip left his ponies and carriage to Louise, continuing a family tradition she has embraced.

Carriage driving trainer Sara Howe, who has seen Louise and da Silva-Clamp at competitions, praised the pair’s relationship, describing them as “just lovely” together.

“He’s always been very supportive, but also leaves her alone to get on with the job,” Howe said.

Da Silva-Clamp was also present last month when Louise received the Duke of Edinburgh’s Gold Award from her father during celebrations at Holyroodhouse, following her graduation from the University of St. Andrews.

Louise graduated using the name “Louise Mountbatten-Windsor” rather than adopting her royal title. She and her younger brother, James, Earl of Wessex, chose not to use their HRH styles after turning 18, despite having the option to do so.

The decision reflects their parents’ approach to preparing them for life outside the working royal family. Sophie previously explained that she and Prince Edward wanted their children to understand they were likely to build careers of their own.

As Louise begins this new chapter after university, she continues to follow her own interests while honoring the royal traditions passed down through her family.
