The atmosphere inside Lima’s concert venue took a emotional, high-stakes turn during Day 2 of BTS’s Peruvian tour stop when group leader RM directly addressed a brewing controversy surrounding fan behavior outside their hotel. Following intense online debates over privacy boundaries, noise disruptions, and dangerous fan antics including lasers and flying drones, the 32-year-old artist chose to address his controversial previous Weverse post head-on. Rather than pointing fingers, RM delivered a powerful message centered on global unity, prompting thousands of emotional Peruvian fans inside the stadium to unite in a chilling, collective chant of “Sorry” that instantly sent shockwaves across social media.
Drones, Lasers, and Sleepless Nights: What Triggered RM’s Rare Social Media Warning
The controversy first erupted shortly after BTS touched down in Lima for their ARIRANG World Tour. Excitement among local supporters reached a boiling point, leading to massive, packed crowds surrounding the group’s hotel property. While fans originally gathered for a lighthearted drone show near Larcomar, the situation quickly escalated into a major privacy debate. The continuous clamor and intrusive actions outside the hotel prevented both the BTS members and their touring staff from getting adequate rest before their high-energy stadium shows, while also causing severe inconvenience to non-celebrity hotel guests.

Taking to Weverse the day prior, RM issued a candid yet firm message urging fans to respect their personal space. He explained that lack of sleep directly impacts their physical ability to give 100% on stage, respectfully asking supporters across upcoming tour stops in Chile, Argentina, Brazil, and Asia to refrain from hotel gatherings so their connection could evolve into a “more mature and proud relationship.” However, as fan discourse turned toxic with internet users blaming Latin American ARMYs, RM felt compelled to clear the air in person during his Day 2 ending speech.
RM Rejects Fan Scapegoating: “We Have Never Divided People By Nationality”
Speaking directly to the crowd in Korean to ensure his exact words were conveyed accurately, RM clarified that his concerns were never exclusive to Peru or Latin America. “The post I made yesterday wasn’t about Latin America or Peru. It’s happened before in Europe, in the U.S., and has actually been happening for a while. It could even happen in Asia,” he explained, acknowledging that many respectful fans actively avoid hotel gatherings or pretend not to recognize the idols on the street to protect their peace. However, he drew a firm line against dangerous behaviors: “Flying drones or shining laser pointers is an absolutely wrong thing to do, and that’s why I spoke about it this time, just like Taehyung did in Europe.”

Rejecting any attempt to divide the fandom by continent or country, the BTS leader called for solidarity among all supporters worldwide: “Everyone, honestly, when have we ever divided people by nationality or continent? Within ARMY and within BTS, we’re all just the same people.” While acknowledging that internet trolls might twist his words, RM expressed complete faith in the majority of fans, stating he believes in the millions of “cool and lovely” ARMYs who embody the true spirit of the group.
A Stadium in Tears: Peruvian ARMYs Apologize as BTS Prepares for Next Tour Stops
RM’s mature, compassionate speech deeply struck a chord with the local crowd. Prior to the show, Peruvian fans had been actively campaigning to protect the band’s boundaries—with soundcheck attendees holding banners reading “I apologize, those in front of the hotel are not Peru ARMYs” and fans outside chanting “Don’t go to the hotel.” During RM’s speech, the entire stadium erupted into a heartbreaking, repeated chant of “Sorry, sorry, sorry” to ensure the members felt their genuine remorse and respect.

Namjoon’s ending ment in Lima D2
🐨 I want to talk about the post I made yesterday, so I’ll say it in Korean. The post I made yesterday wasn’t about Latin America or Peru. It’s happened before in Europe, in the U.S, and has actually been happening for a while. It could even happen in Asia. I’m also well aware that there are many people who are trying not to come stay in front of the hotel, and that some even pretend to not know us on the streets.
But flying drones or shining laser pointers is an absolutely wrong thing to do, and that’s why I spoke about it this time, just like Taehyung did in Europe.
Guys, when have we ever treated people differently based on their nationality or continent? Within ARMY and within BTS, we’re all just the same people.
I hope you can ignore the people who assume strange things and just continue loving each other like this.
Even if I address it here like this, the people who want to hear only the things they want to, would just do exactly that, but I’m going to believe that there are so many armys who are way cooler and lovely.
I was deeply moved here in Peru too.

Deeply touched by the overwhelming warmth and sincerity of the Peruvian audience despite the initial hotel friction, BTS wrapped up their historic 3-day Lima run on a high note. The global icons are now preparing to take their massive ARIRANG World Tour to its upcoming South American legs in Santiago (Chile), Buenos Aires (Argentina), and São Paulo (Brazil), leaving behind a powerful lesson in mutual respect, boundary-setting, and mature fan love.
