Paralympic Gold Medalist and DWTS Fan Favorite Ezra Frech Responds to Calls for Him to Become the Next Bachelor

Ezra Frech has become a fan favorite on Dancing With the Stars, and now some fans are calling for the Paralympic gold medalist to become the next star of The Bachelor. But the 21-year-old athlete was surprised to hear that people were already talking about him for the role.

Pop culture podcaster Morgan Paige recently shared an Instagram video supporting the idea, calling Frech the “fresh start” the ABC dating franchise needs. Fans quickly joined the conversation, with one writing, “Everyone loves him,” while another said he would be perfect for the show.

However, not everyone thinks Frech is ready to lead the dating series. His fellow DWTS contestant and Bachelorette alum Tyler Cameron believes the athlete should have more time before taking on the role.

“Maybe we put a pin in him and let him just keep being a stud and keep growing up,” Cameron told The Post. “I came on at 26. So let’s say, five years.”

When The Post told Frech about the growing calls for him to become the next Bachelor, he was caught off guard.

“Really? Wow. I did not know people were saying that. That is really, really funny,” he responded. Frech added that he would have to think about the opportunity, especially with his attention turning toward the 2028 Summer Paralympics in his hometown of Los Angeles after Dancing With the Stars wraps.

The dating show is not the only unexpected opportunity coming his way. After Frech posted a shirtless workout video on Instagram, Magic Mike Live commented “Hired,” prompting another surprised reaction from the athlete.

“‘Magic Mike’ commented? That is hilarious. Wow, I would have never expected that,” he said.

Meanwhile, Frech continues to make an impact on the dance floor alongside his partner, Daniella Karagach, as they compete for the Mirrorball Trophy. He called Karagach his “best friend” and praised her creativity in adapting choreography to his needs.

Born with congenital limb differences, Frech received his first prosthetic when he was 11 months old and had his left leg amputated at age 2. He is the first Dancing With the Stars contestant to use a hinge-knee running blade while dancing, allowing him greater movement but also increasing his risk of falling if his weight is not positioned correctly.

Frech said Karagach has found solutions for challenging movements, including diagonal steps and chassés, helping him push his limits throughout the competition.

Beyond the scores, the athlete is proud to represent children with disabilities. He was especially moved by a viral video of a young boy watching him dance, with the child’s mother explaining that her son could finally see someone on television who looked like him.

“Videos like that of that kid jumping on the bed, watching me dance, that’s something that I’ll remember forever,” Frech said.

The USC alum won two gold medals at the 2024 Paralympics in Paris in the high jump and 100-meter sprint. Through his DWTS journey, he hopes to change how people view disability.

“People think disability is such a taboo, negative thing … but it’s not the case. It doesn’t need to be like that,” he said. “Disability is a normal part of society … It’s not the worst thing in the world.”
