Prince Harry’s UK accommodations are revealed as a possible step toward repairing his strained relationship with King Charles

King Charles III has reportedly extended an invitation to Prince Harry ahead of the Duke of Sussex’s expected visit to the United Kingdom in September.

According to The Sun, Charles has offered his youngest son a room at Buckingham Palace during his upcoming stay in London. The reported invitation is being viewed as another possible step toward repairing the strained relationship between the father and son.

The reported offer comes after Charles recently reunited with Harry, Meghan Markle and the couple’s two children, Prince Archie, 7, and Princess Lilibet, 5.

The king reportedly saw his grandchildren for the first time in four years during a family gathering at Highgrove House on July 10, which Page Six previously confirmed.

However, the family’s trip to the United Kingdom reportedly faced several challenges before the reunion could happen.

Meghan and the children were said to have nearly missed the visit after the family was denied taxpayer funded security.

Harry and Meghan lost their publicly funded security privileges in 2020 after stepping down from their roles as working members of the royal family.

“Their plans to see family, friends and visit various charitable causes close to the duke’s heart have been pulled out from under their feet at the 11th hour,” a source told The Guardian at the time.

After considering the situation, Harry reportedly decided to travel to the United Kingdom alone to continue supporting several charities that are important to him.

However, another issue reportedly emerged involving his accommodations.

Harry’s invitation to stay at Buckingham Palace was allegedly withdrawn at the last minute after he had formally accepted the offer.

“I am aware of multiple briefings from Buckingham Palace last week suggesting that the Duke had not accepted the offer of accommodation at a Royal Residence,” a representative for the Duke of Sussex told in a statement at the time.

“Following RAVEC’s decision not to provide security for his family, the Duke spent last week making alternative security arrangements. Once those arrangements were in place, [Harry] was able to formally accept the offer of accommodation for himself over the weekend.”

The representative described the decision to withdraw the offer as “disappointing” and said the reason behind the move remained unclear.

Despite the long running tensions between Charles and Harry, the two reportedly agreed to put their differences aside to make the July 10 reunion possible.

However, Charles, 77, was reportedly careful to ensure that the meeting had a witness. His wife, Queen Camilla, was also present during the reunion.

“The queen was there for a reason,” royal writer Robert Jobson told. “To make sure that everything was witnessed.”

The reported offer of a room at Buckingham Palace could now signal another effort to improve relations between Charles and Harry as the royal family continues to navigate its complicated relationship with the Duke of Sussex.
