Scotty McCreery Just Dropped An Emotional Family Update That Could Change His Next Album Forever.

Scotty McCreery is sharing an update on fatherhood, new music, and what fans can expect next in a new interview with Country Countdown USA.

The North Carolina native recently celebrated a major career milestone with the release of 15, a career retrospective album featuring nine of his biggest hits along with four new recordings. The capsule collection is available now on vinyl, CD, and digitally in honor of McCreery’s 15th anniversary as a recording artist.

While discussing the project, McCreery opened up about life at home with his two sons, Merrick Avery and Oliver Cooke. The proud dad shared that Avery has embraced his role as a big brother and is enjoying showing his younger sibling the ropes.

“Avery is awesome, he loves to teach his brother things. Avery’s into sports and wonders, ‘Why can’t Ollie do this with me?’ Avery is a ham, so if he sees Ollie making people laugh, he’ll jump in and try to make people laugh too,” McCreery shared.

As for Oliver, who turns one on September 18, McCreery joked that his youngest son is close to taking his first steps…but isn’t quite there yet.

“Not yet, but he’s starting to rock back and forth. Maybe next time we talk, he’ll be on the go. But at the moment it’s just too much weight to move,” he said. “We got our hands full in all the best ways. When the day ends, we just appreciate the blessings we have. It’s crazy, but amazing time in the house right now.”

Along with balancing tour dates and family life, McCreery is already looking ahead to his next chapter of music. The singer revealed that a new full-length album is in the works and that he plans to return to the studio soon.

“I’m itching to get back in the studio to make a full-length album. I’ll be back in the studio in a month or two. I’ve been writing songs for that. Can’t wait for folks to hear what we’re working on,” he said.

While McCreery kept details about the upcoming project under wraps, he revealed that some of his most personal experiences have helped inspire new songs, including tributes to his beloved dog Moose and his late grandmothers.

“We’ve got a song written about my dog Moose. I didn’t go into the session looking for a dog song, but I’m so glad it happened. I’m pretty sure that song will make the album,” he shared. “I also wrote a story song about my grandmothers. I lost both of them last year. So if ‘Five More Minutes’ was for my grandfather, then this song is more touching on my grandmothers.”

With plenty of new stories to tell and new music on the way, McCreery is bringing fans along as he enters the next chapter of his career.
