Meghan Markle is opening up about the words from Prince Harry that help her stay hopeful during life’s most challenging moments.

The Duchess of Sussex shared a personal piece of advice from her husband during a special screening of “Cookie Queens” in Los Angeles, where she discussed how she stays motivated when facing difficult periods.

During a post-screening Q&A on Tuesday, Meghan was asked how she pushes through “tough moments.” She responded by recalling something Harry told her years ago.

“I think so much of it, funny enough, I was thinking about something my husband told me ages ago, because we all go through experiences and life is full of surprises,” Meghan said.

She then shared the perspective Harry developed from his time as a helicopter pilot in the British Army, where he served for 10 years.

“Sometimes on really hard days, we were once he said, ‘Hey, but my love, you know, even if there’s a storm happening above the storm, the sun’s always shining,’” Meghan recalled.

Finding perspective during difficult moments

Meghan explained that the message is about looking beyond the challenges happening in the moment and remembering the bigger picture.

“That perspective only comes when you think about zooming out a little,” she said.

The Duchess reflected on how many experiences can initially feel overwhelming, yet people often find a way through them.

“So I think when you really zoom out and think, ‘My gosh, how many things have we gone through that have felt hard?’ And then you still get through them,” she said.

She added that the same mindset applies to personal goals and setbacks.

“Or how many goals do you think you’re not gonna hit? And then you hit them, and you supersede them,” Meghan continued.

The actress and entrepreneur concluded with the reminder that even during difficult times, hope remains possible.

“That no matter what feels insurmountable, there’s just always that sun shining above it,” she said.

Supporting ‘Cookie Queens’

Meghan’s appearance took place ahead of the theatrical release of “Cookie Queens,” a documentary she and Harry executive produced.

The film, directed by Alysa Nahmias, will arrive in theaters on August 7 and explores girlhood, friendship, and the experiences surrounding Girl Scout Cookie season.

The documentary premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in January 2026, where Meghan and Harry attended to support the project.

As a former Girl Scout, Meghan has previously spoken about the lasting impact of the organization and the skills it teaches young people.

She told Variety that the Girl Scout experience helped build tools that continue to influence people later in life, highlighting lessons around community, technology, and financial independence.
