Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Reportedly Take Archie and Lilibet on Private Scottish Island Getaway

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle reportedly enjoyed a private family escape with their children during their latest visit to the UK.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are believed to have taken Prince Archie, 7, and Princess Lilibet, 5, on a secluded holiday to a remote Scottish island following their recent trip to Britain, according to reports.

The family’s getaway is said to have taken place on Tanera Mor, the largest island among the Summer Isles off the northwest coast of Scotland. The island is located around 150 miles from Balmoral, the private royal residence of King Charles.

The reported trip came after Harry and Meghan returned to the UK, where the Duke attended several engagements before reuniting with his wife and children for a visit with King Charles and Queen Camilla at Highgrove.

A secluded island retreat

Tanera Mor is the only inhabited island among the six Summer Isles and was purchased in 2017 by billionaire Ian Wace, co-founder of hedge fund giant Marshall Wace, for £1.7 million.

When Wace acquired the island nearly a decade ago, it reportedly had a population of only five people and featured cottages that were in various states of disrepair.

Since then, the island has undergone a major transformation with an estimated £100 million investment, including the planting of more than 100,000 trees and the restoration of around a dozen cottages.

The remote destination has been known for its peaceful atmosphere, offering a quiet escape with holiday cottages, a small post office, a café, and no cars.

Tanera Mor has also been linked to the famous 1973 horror film “The Wicker Man,” with the island reportedly inspiring elements of the movie’s setting.

A connection to Harry’s interests

The island has previously hosted guests connected to causes that align with Harry’s work, including the Taigh Mor Foundation, a charity focused on mental fitness, health support, and assisting members of the armed forces.

The organization hosted more than 1,000 guests on the island in 2025.

Mental health and wellbeing have remained important topics for Prince Harry, who has frequently spoken about these issues and has dedicated much of his public work to supporting veterans and their families.

A significant UK return

Harry’s latest UK visit included events marking the one-year countdown to the Invictus Games in Birmingham.

The trip was also notable because Harry, Meghan, and their children reportedly met with King Charles and Queen Camilla, marking a rare family reunion.

It was reportedly the first time the King had seen Archie and Lilibet in person since the family attended the Platinum Jubilee celebrations in June 2022.

Harry has previously spoken about wanting to rebuild family connections, including during a BBC interview in May 2025, when he discussed his relationship with his father.

The reported Scottish island retreat offered the Sussex family a private moment together during a visit that also carried significant personal and royal importance.
